Nike had a geographical mishap this week, after confusing North Carolina with its southern counterpart.

Nike launched a $32 T-shirt in honour of The Carolina Panthers, an American football team, showing the Panthers logo with the initials NC over a graphic of South Carolina.

The only problem is that The Carolina Panthers are from North Carolina.

Nike pulled the T-shirt from its website this morning and apologised for the error.

"A small quantity of incorrect Carolina Panthers T-shirts were recently made available for sale. This product should not have been sold. We have removed it from sale and apologize for the error," said Nike's North America media relations director in an email to The Huffington Post.

Amid the geographical confusion, Nike celebrated 25 years of its infamous ‘Just Do It’ slogan this month. Read why it will probably last another 25 years in John Reynolds opinion column for The Drum.
