Home helps Leeds Rhinos become first Rugby League club to launch Amazon Echo Skill
Integrated marketing agency, Home, has been working with Leeds Rhinos to utilise the latest voice technology to help its fans keep up-to-date with news about the rugby club in an even more convenient way.
Home’s specialist Technology and Artificial Intelligence Optimisation teams have come together to launch an official Skill for the Amazon Echo device which allows fans to opt in to receive news items about Leeds Rhinos from Amazon’s personal assistant, Alexa.
Whilst there are now over 5,000 Skills available for the Echo, Leeds Rhinos is the first Rugby League club to utilise this technology in the UK.
Phil Daly, Head of Media and PR, at Leeds Rhinos: “We’re always thinking about new ways to make it easier for our fans to consume our content and stay in the know with what’s going on at the club, so when Home came to us with an idea of creating the first club Rugby League Skill, it was a no brainer!”
Phill Midwinter, Technology Director, at Home: “The rise of voice-activated assistants opens up exciting opportunities for businesses and brands, especially when recent stats are suggesting that by the end of 2018, over 40% of UK households will have a Smart Speaker. We’re thrilled to have helped Leeds Rhinos take advantage of this tech to engage with their fans.”
Fans can enable the Leeds Rhinos Skill to add the club’s news to their daily Flash Briefing through their Amazon account or Alexa App. Once enabled, fans will hear the latest Rhinos news alongside their other news by asking, “Alexa, what’s my news?”.
