Judging digital award at Anglia Ruskin University
Our design team has once again lent support to Cambridge School of Art - part of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) - judging the Digital Media Award 2017 at its Bees Knees Degree Show.
Cambridge School of Art is the only university in Cambridge offering art and design courses at higher education level to over 900 students. Now in its third year, the awards - supported by local businesses in the creative sector - help motivate students and give them exposure to industry professionals.
Onespacemedia has supported ARU for the past three years on a range of initiativesdesigned to help support and inspire students as they begin their careers in design.
The award, presented by Creative Director James Dellar, celebrates the student who has shown the most innovative and imaginative approach to working with digital media. The winner, Angela Padilla was motivated by her interest in organic patterns and cymatics - the study of wave phenomena, especially sound, and their visual representations in sand and water. By applying sound at specific frequencies of oscillation to sand, Angela was able to create a series of patterns which she then recreated digitally to form a range of digital elements.
Commenting on Angela’s work, James Dellar said “This award rewards innovation in digital and Angela is a very deserving winner. Not only is her vision unique and innovative but the volume and standard of work Angela created was staggering. It was an honour to be involved in the awards again - a category like this will always produce a broad range of approaches and I was really impressed with the high standard of work.”
Angela Padilla said, "I was delighted to receive this special recognition for my work from Onespacemedia. The project gave me the opportunity to explore and learn about a subject I found fascinating. Witnessing the behaviour of geometry in nature and the waves phenomenon was a captivating experience and allowed me to take my work to a meaningful level. I feel very fortunate to have had the inspiring support and guidance of my tutors during this entire process."
