An inspiration to everyone who met him - Precedent founder and chairman Paul Hoskins remembers Hardip Bhamra
Paul Hoskins, founder and chairman at Precedent, pays tribute to the late Hardip Bhamra who passed away suddenly on Friday 6 November.
Hardip joined Precedent over twenty years ago and in many ways he was Precedent. He was gentle, honest and lacked an ego, of any kind. His commitment, professionalism and kindness was evident in everything that he did and all his wonderful traits he shared and passed on to both clients and colleagues.
There are so many words to describe Hardip – caring, compassionate, funny, positive, humble, committed, brilliant, creative and sparkly are just the beginning. I’m sure I speak for everyone when we say we’ve never before met a man who you could truly say was liked by everyone and was everyone’s friend.
Hardip was an individual that shone, always with a twinkle in his eye. He hung a disco ball in the board room; he wore fairy lights as a belt if we were stressed; he threw the best sparkle parties anyone had ever seen. He was quite simply unique. And only he could pull off those vibrant shirts and shoes while flashing a diamante-encrusted phone case.
He taught us all to see the positive in everyone and everything. He taught us to understand everyone’s story and that everyone has a different tale to tell. He calmed every situation with grace and goodwill.
At work, Hardip always strived for the best. He always wanted to do things the right way. His attention to detail was exact and he could always see beyond simply doing a good job. He was a creative thinker always looking for alternative solutions to problems and coming up with new and innovative ways of doing things that would be bigger and better for our clients.
I remember Hardip for going the extra mile in every situation. He loved his clients and considered many of them friends. He had a real sense of pride and achievement when a tricky situation turned into a positive one. The reason that Hardip was so amazing at his job was that it came naturally to him. He didn’t try to be a people person – he was a people person. His influence will be felt for a long time to come.
He was – as he always strived for in his work – world class.
His daughter Kristina placed a tribute on her father’s Facebook page over the weekend saying that she will try her best to imitate him. If we can all follow her example in one way or another, we will be better people for it.
As well as being the best man to work with, his first love and priority in life was his family. Our hearts go out to Hardip’s wife Marianne, Kristina, and his family and many friends.
Earlier this year, Hardip posted one of his paintings on Facebook with a short message that read, ‘It’s working with mistakes; you start, make it up from your imagination, what you end up with is what you live with. Don't go back and change anything.’
