The Post Office has made light of Facebook’s outage by launching a reactive poster campaign to remind the public that there is one method for keeping in touch with friends and family that you can still rely on.

The Post Office has capitalized on Facebook’s crash with a reactive poster campaign

The timely campaign by ad agency Ogilvy UK appeared at outdoor Clear Channel locations across London ahead of a nationwide roll-out.

The simple messaging equates social posts with the post to remind people unable to post, share or like that the ability to connect is not lost.

Jules Chalkley, executive creative director of Ogilvy UK, said: “We wanted to take advantage of last night’s social media outage to celebrate the Post Office. While the world went into digital turmoil, Post Office did what it has always done: be the original social media network, connecting people day in day out, all over the country in a beautifully human way.”

A major investigation is still under way at Facebook to ascertain precisely how a server update went so calamitously wrong that it knocked out Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram for six hours, incurring an estimated $79m loss in ad revenues.
