SGAG launches SGEEK to provide 'light-hearted and accessible' coverage of all things tech and games

SGEEK will primarily be a video channel with content distributed across YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Social media and content agency SGAG has launched a new tech channel named SGEEK, which aims to offer informative, light-hearted and accessible coverage of all things tech and games.

According to the Singapore-based company, which is a spin-off of 9GAG, SGEEK will primarily be a video channel with content distributed across YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Fans can expect gadget reviews, unboxing videos, first-looks, livestreams and experiments that will appeal to English-speaking fans across Southeast Asia.

SGEEK’s first video was a hands-on at the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S9 in Barcelona at the 2018 Mobile World Congress. It claims the video garnered over 120,000 organic views on Facebook within three days, with a reach of over 410,000.

“Just as we pioneered the growth of SGAG to local and regional audiences, we aim to create a new channel that will win the hearts and minds of the millennial audiences,” said Karl Mak, co-founder and chief executive of Hepmil Media Group, the holding company that owns SGAG and SGEEK.

Together with Mak, SGEEK’s videos will be hosted by SGAG co-founder Adrian Ang and Lisabel Ting, a former tech journalist with The Straits Times.
