Out-of-home agency Talon spreads wings to US, lands New York office

Talon Outdoor, an UK-based independent out-of-home (OOH) agency announced its expansion into the US market with the opening of its New York office.

Talon Outdoor has partnered with Holt Media Companies in a joint venture, according to a statement. Holt has provided a “high-end perspective on the US landscape." Together with Ptarmigan Media, founding agency partner, Talon will also extend its work with heritage partners in the outdoor space Grand Visual and Blis.

Irina Zeltzer has been tasked with leading the efforts for Talon’s US offerings as its managing director. Assisting her will be co-founder James Copley, who will provide support and oversee the region. Ruth Schinn was was hired as a director.

Over the past five years, Talon has worked with a number of agencies, particularly Omnicom Media Group. The agency has created award-winning work for brands including Google, Disney, Sony Pictures and McDonald’s. "The management team," Talon said, "have established a culture of entrepreneurialism and collaboration that it intends to bring to the US market."

Added Copley: “Talon has established a strong track record of success in the UK built on a heritage of delivering smarter, creative and effective OOH communications services, and we are thrilled to extend this capability into the US market. With Irina and Ruth’s leadership and with the support of our partners, we are well positioned to thrive in a resurgent US market.”

Zeltser joined Talon from Project X (PJX), where she deepened her expertise building OOH agencies. “This is an exciting time to be in the industry, with the advent of new digital technologies, audience targeting and measurement capabilities that continue to lift the medium as a whole,” said Zeltser. “We intend to embrace the ongoing digital transformation in OOH, employing an approach that leverages all of the technological and creative assets at our disposal to smartly deliver the most effective and accountable integrated campaigns for our clients.”

Schinn has enjoyed a lengthy career in the US market, having held senior positions at Posterscope and Kinetic. “People and culture are a core focus of Talon’s heritage and will continue to be a central element of our philosophy in the US,” said Schinn. “Our clients will recognize our people as being nimble, creative and willing to push boundaries as a disruptor in our sector.”
