‘Speak up with confidence’: Exceptional Women of the World featuring Gina Alshuler, Rauxa

Gina Alshuler, president and chief executive of Rauxa

Exceptional Women of the World is a podcast that highlights and celebrates the great achievements, lives and POV of amazing women throughout the world of advertising, marketing, digital, tech and creativity.

Gina Alshuler, president and chief executive of Rauxa in Costa Mesa, California, thought that politics was in her future after graduating from San Diego State University in 2001.

A friend asked her if she wanted to work at the agency and she thought that making a few bucks before moving back east would be a good idea — and it most certainly turned out well for Alshuler and the agency, which has a presence in San Francisco, New York. Seattle and Culver City, California.

The energetic Alshuler believes that we overcomplicate our lives because we tend to put too much pressure on ourselves — and act out of fear, thinking about the “next” thing that can create a “perfect life”. She sees this as a reminder to be grateful for what one has at the moment, instead of chasing down stressful dreams that may not materialize.

Bravery, a word that is often spoken in the halls of the advertising and marketing industries, has its foundation in preparation and Alshuler has used that to her advantage and also teaches the younger members of her team to do just that. Additionally, positive energy is a must, even when tough things are happening and having confidence is what can bring it all together for people.

Innate curiosity is another arrow in Alshuler’s quiver. She genuinely enjoys hearing other peoples’ stories, background and how, sometimes, they overcame adversity.

But, in the end, it’s all about working hard — showing up and doing the work — and being bold, tenacious and confident to make that hustle work even harder for clients and the agency.
