The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons is back for Intel, this time as a ghost to help LeBron James see his future holiday.

Ghost of Holiday Future

LeBron James and Jim Parsons for Intel holiday spot

The campaign by Mcgarrybowen, called the 'Ghost of Holiday Future,' shows dad, LeBron James, his future where he sees the result of his gift giving oversight: not buying a new computer to power the latest gadgets. In it, the daughter tries to see on her new VR headset but just sees darkness. James jokes that she’s in deep space, which digital ghost Parsons doesn’t find amusing. It may remind some of the days when parents would buy the best toy but would forget the buy the batteries.

This is the first time an Intel holiday advertising campaign is specifically encouraging gift giving, and is offering $150 off select computers purchased through Best Buy. The key message of the campaign is that when you give Intel, you’re giving a lot more than just a computer – you’re giving a key (the new Intel 8th Gen processor) that unlocks the hottest wish-list items including VR and video games.

“Intel processors let you get the most out of the latest tech gear,” said Steve Fund, Intel’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “This new campaign is the first time we’ve specifically focused on gifting and lets the consumer know that without the latest PC powered by 8th Generation Intel Core processor, your new 4K camera, VR headset and the latest PC games will be ‘virtually useless.’"

Said Mcgarrybowen San Francisco managing director and executive creative director, Marianne Besch: "Remember when you were little and you got a great gift—but your mom forgot to get you the batteries? It was just the worst feeling — for parents and kids. Well, imagine that moment happening today, but instead of missing batteries, you’re missing a new computer to power the kind of tech gifts kids are asking for — things like drones, video games and virtual reality.

"What mom and dad may not realize is that, without a new computer powered by the 8th Gen Intel Core processor, those tech gifts simply may not work. We produced this holiday campaign using Jim Parsons as the Ghost of Christmas Future and LeBron James — not as an athlete, but as dad. Jim shows LeBron a glimpse of his holiday future without a new computer — and that future is not bright. The message we want people to take away is that when you Give Intel for the holiday, you get amazing experience — and power for all the latest tech.”
