Mercedes-Benz and French illustrator Mcbess have revealed the last spot in their Tongue Twister campaign, which promotes Mercedes’ smart safety systems through mind-bending imagery and alliterative audio.

The new film, entitled Deer, dramatizes a fast and complicated traffic situation as a tongue twister, told poetically from the perspective of a specific safety system.

Mcbess, who ‘doesn’t do colour’ and is inspired by Fleischer Studios’ original cartoons, illustrated the story of a Mercedes that has a near run in with a deer in the dark. The film aims to showcase the usefulness of the car’s Night View Assist.

Conceived by Mercedes-Benz’s lead agency, Antoni Berlin, the spot combines illustration with typography in time with the fast pace of the voiceover to create a piece of work distinct from other safety technology ads. It follows the brand’s earlier Tongue Twister ads, Biker and Runner, which were illustrated by different artists.
