This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

UM

Chris Skinner has been appointed as the first EMEA president for UM.

In the role, Skinner hopes to provide brand leadership to the region while also driving growth and developing key strategic talent and client relationships.

Visualsoft

Neil Innes has been promoted from head of development to chief technology officer at Visualsoft.

Having joined the digital agency back in 2006, Innes will be responsible for driving technical direction of the business and working with the team to meet long term business objectives.

Marketo

Jamie Anderson has been appointed as president of EMEA at Marketo.

Joining from SAP, where he held the role of chief marketing officer, Anderson brings 20 years of experience in marketing and business development.

Who Wot Why

Crispin Porter + Bogusky London's head of client service, Charles Faircloth, has joined Who Wot Why to lead the agency's client relationships.

Tasked with growing the agency and its client base, Faircloth has said he is looking forward to working with "the most eye-catching new shop in town".

House of Fraser

House of Fraser’s carousel of marketing leads has turned again, with chief customer officer David Walmsley departing after just 12 months in the role. The retailer said Paddy Earnshaw will up his responsibilities in the position of chief marketing officer.

Walmsley joined the retailer from M&S in August 2016, inheriting what he referred to as “theoretical” marketing strategy and a “confused” definition of the House of Fraser brand.

House of Fraser confirmed that the position has now been scrapped, and Earnshaw – previously the chief creative officer of Doddle – will be given the title of chief marketing officer.

APAC people on the move

Criteo

Criteo has appointed Hanming Huang as managing director of its South Asia and Greater China operations, where he will lead one of the fastest-growing regions for the company. Huang will provide strategic direction and further accelerate the growth of Criteo’s business in that region.

Based in Singapore, Huang will set and implement Criteo’s growth strategy in Australia, China, India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He will work closely with the regional leadership team to expand the existing customer base, and will also be responsible for strengthening Criteo’s partnership with businesses in the region throughout the industry.

Huang joins Criteo after a decade at Yahoo!, where he was head of platform and exchange in APAC and led teams across six markets to drive programmatic business transformation.

Havas India

Havas India has appointed Sanghamitra Shong Chakraborty as senior vice president and business head. She will lead the integrated Reckitt Benckiser (RB) team at Havas India, which is the creative partner for many of RB India's brands.

She has over 18 years of experience in advertising and brand management and has worked with both global and homegrown brands such as GSK, Tata Docomo, Nestle, Maruti Suzuki, Motorola, Dabur, National Geographic across stints with Grey Worldwide, TBWA, Publicis and Contract.

USA People on the move

Cohn & Wolfe

Cohn & Wolfe has named Tom Reno as chief operating officer, responsible for maximizing the depth and breadth of the agency’s talent and operations around the world.

Based in New York, Reno will oversee IT, HR, legal and real estate functions as well as the operations side of acquisitions, reporting to Cohn & Wolfe chief executive Donna Imperato. Reno joins Cohn & Wolfe from 42West where he served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for eight years.

Work & Co

Jessica Bauer-Greene has joined Work & Co as an associate partner of design. The digital product agency works with Apple, Facebook, Aesop, Alaska Airlines and others.

Bauer-Greene, who will be based in Work & Co's Portland office, has worked exclusively in digital design for more than 15 years.

Deutsch

Deutsch has hired Doris Chung as senior vice president, creative director to spearhead the agency’s creative work for Mott’s and Canada Dry. Chung will report directly to chief creative officer of North America, Pete Favat.

Prior to joining Deutsch, Chung served as senior vice president, group creative director at DigitasLBi, where she spent more than a decade creating award-winning work for brands including Buick, GMC and P&G among others.

McCann

Devika Bulchandani has been named president of McCann New York.

Bulchandani, who recently served as managing director of McCann New York, has held various leadership roles in the New York office, including as managing director of global strategy. She has also served as president of McCann XBC.

Additionally, Chris Macdonald will now lead all Worldgroup North American advertising agencies and be responsible for driving partnering and integration initiatives with other Worldgroup units across the region and Suzanne Powers has been named global chief strategy officer of McCann Worldgroup, expanding her role with additional responsibilities.

Zambezi

Independent creative agency Zambezi has hired Tal Wagman as associate creative director. Wagman previously worked at Saatchi & Saatchi Los Angeles on Toyota and Bravo.

His work has been recognized at Cannes, Communication Arts, The Webby’s, and according to him, “many Canadian awards which no one has heard of."

M&C Saatchi LA

M&C Saatchi LA has promoted three of its key executives to senior positions to help run the agency. All three have been with M&C Saatchi for over 10 years.

Ron Tapia takes on the role of creative director, and Mike Wilton and Rebecca McGough have each been promoted to managing director. The trio will sit on the Executive Leadership Board running the expanding set of companies in the LA group.

MDC Partners

MDC Partners has hired Jayme Frieder as senior vice president of its marketing and business development team, focused on growth in the US market. Frieder will partner with Ryan Linder, chief marketing officer of the US, to drive client engagement and further fuel the company’s new business momentum.

Joining from Simulmedia, where as senior director, Frieder grew revenue with the company’s strategic accounts including Pepsi, Turner, Fox, Choice Hotels, Princess Cruises and Betterment.

Gyro

Mike Hensley is now senior vice president, strategic planning and Chris Hill is president of gyro Chicago/Denver.

Hensley has spent more than 35 years as a B2B agency leader. He has served as the national chairman of the BMA and was inducted into the Business-to-Business Hall of Fame.

Hill has worked with the agency's top clients including USG, Aflac and Grant Thornton. Before joining Gyro, he held leadership roles at FCB and Ogilvy & Mather. He was most recently SVP, account management director of Gyro Chicago/Denver.

R/GA

R/GA has hired Nick Allen as senior vice president, group managing director. Allen has more than 16 years of global marketing experience and as GMD, he will lead the client relationship for the Verizon business, acting as a senior partner, managing and growing client and agency partner relationships while working closely with R/GA strategists, creatives and producers to develop award-winning projects.

Kelly Harrison has also joined the R/GA team as public relations manager. Harrison was previously with Double E Communications.

Greenlight

​Dallas agency Greenlight has hired Alex Baker as its first director of brand experience. To celebrate the fact that the agency "hired a Baker", Greenlight employees recently hit the streets of Dallas in a pop-up truck to hand out 150 donuts and coffees.

In this newly created role, Baker will work with the account service and creative teams to develop, concept and provide input for campaigns and strategies.

Baker previously served as marketing communications manager at The Ritz-Carlton in Dallas.

Airbnb/Samara

Designer Simon Waterfall was named creative director of Samara, Airbnb's internal design and innovation studio.

Waterfall previously co-founded several digital studios and consultancies, including Social Suicide, Fray, Deepend and Poke. He will work with Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia to oversee projects carried out by Samara, including service design, architecture and software engineering projects.
