The company said that Bixby's delay has been caused as Samsung wanted it to understand Indian accents.

Through Bixby, Samsung will aim to step up its game to compete with Apple's initiative of making phones under 'Made in India.' Bixby voice for India has been developed at the company’s R&D center in Bengaluru.

In a nod to Apple, Samsung Mobile India tweeted: 'The new #GalaxyNote8 also comes with Bixby voice capabilities and ‘Make for India’ innovations in its intelligent interface. Bixby Voice capability will soon be available in India on #GalaxyNote8 and Galaxy S8 & S8+ devices.'

China has already toppled Indian smartphone makers with strategic innovation and marketing. Samsung remained the market leader with 28% share in 1Q 2017 (1QCY16:25%), the share of Indian vendors shrunk a mere 14% to 40% market share.

After a series of delays, Bixby was rolled out in the US in July.
