Facebook rolls out new features to expand 'On This Day'
Having recently updated its News Feed for consumers to have "more lively" and "expressive conversations", Facebook is expanding the 'On This Day' feature with two new updates.
Facebook expands 'On This Day' by introducing new updates
This first is 'Recapping Your Memories' where users' recent memories, will be bundled into a monthly or seasonal memory recap story. Like On This Day, these memory recap stories will show up in the News Feed and are shareable.
Secondly, the current 'Celebrate Your Friendships' and other celebratory messages like 'you have made these number of friend' will become shareable.
In a blog it was explained: "We’ve received input from people over the past two years and have worked to improve On This Day, such as making controls and preferences easier to access. On This Day is one of Facebook’s most popular experiences and we’re excited that this feature is now available to everyone on Facebook.
"We know how much people cherish their friendships and memories, which is why we approach these experiences with sensitivity and care. Our goal is to create a supportive environment that allows you to express your feelings and connect with what matters to you and your community."
Facebook seems to be stepping up its game after a researrch report claimed it was losing UK and US teens to Instagram and Snapchat.
