iVOOMi intends to use Flipkart's marketing intelligence support to target smarphone users in tier 3 and tier 4 cities in India. It also plans to facilitate its research and and development (R&D) in Hong Kong and China, with support from Flipkart's analytics of smartphone usage in India, as reported by News18.
In April, Flipkart received investments totaling $1.4 billion from Microsoft, eBay and Tencent which took the company's value to $11.6 billion and also launched private label fashion brand Divastri to combat rival Amazon.
"We are glad to be associated with the e-commerce major Flipkart. Through their verified intelligence reports, our focus is to ensure the development of latest technology in the most cost-effective range, as desired by users in this geography," said Ashwin Bhandari, CEO, iVOOMi India.
This will be another step by iVOOMi to intensify the growth of Chinese smartphone makers which have already toppled the Indian smartphone makers with strategic innovation and marketing.
Ayyappan. R, senior director, smartphones at Flipkart, said: “We are happy to partner with iVOOMi and make the best in smartphone technology available and accessible to our customers. We are certain that through this association customers can avail a winning combination of great technology coupled with affordable pricing reinforcing our undisputed market leader position in this category.”
