This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.
People on the Move featuring Twitter, Snap Inc, Media Storm and more
Twitter has announced the appointment of Ned Segal as as its new chief financial officer, who will succeed the current incumbent Anthony Noto, in late August.
In his new role, Segal will report directly to Twitter chief Jack Dorsey and will oversee the publicly-listed company’s finance, accounting, corporate development, corporate security, financial planning and analysis, as well as investor relations, real estate, plus tax and treasury areas of the business.
BBH London
Nick Gill is stepping down from his role of executive creative director of BBH London after a decade leading the department, he hands off to deputy executive creative directors Ian Heartfield and Anthony Austin.
Gill stays at the company with Pelle Sjoenell, worldwide chief creative officer of BBH, claiming the shakeup means that Gill “can point his enormous talent exclusively at the work, free of any executive responsibilities.”
Snap Inc
Tanya Ridd is to join Snapchat owner Snap Inc as director of communication, EMEA. Ridd will start in September and joins from Apple where she headed up corporate PR for areas including tax, environment and supplier responsibility.
Based out of Snap's London office, Ridd will lead communications strategy for Snap Inc's growing presence in the region.
Hearst
Hearst has bolstered its team with two new senior hires to its editorial team.
Sarah Bailey has joined as group editorial director of Good Housekeeping, Red and Prima while Susy Smith as group editorial director of Country Living, House Beautiful and Elle Decoration.
Lego
The Lego Group has promoted Rebecca Snell to senior director, head of marketing for UK and Ireland.
Having joined in 2013 as head of marketing for UK and Ireland, Snell has worked on new strategies to drive the business while developing the marketing team.
Film4
Ollie Madden has joined Film4 as head of creative.
Moving away from from his current role as executive producer at Kudos, Madden brings over 15 years of industry experience to the role.
Financial Times
The Financial Times has appointed Dorota Gwilliam as global director of luxury and weekend advertising.
Gwilliam joins from Plus, where she held the role of publishing and digital lead for Chanel.
Above + Beyond
Joanna Borton has been appointed as the first creative services director at Above + Beyond.
Borton joins from 180 Amsterdam, where she held the role of head of project management.
Webling
Carlos Guedes has joined Webling as associate creative director, effective immediately.
Guedes joins from Snakk Media where he held the position of creative director for three years while also being a founding member of Touch Create. He has worked for brands including Nokia, McDonald’s and Vodafone.
Hill+Knowlton Strategies
Hill+Knowlton Strategies Japan has hired Mark Leong as director of integrated marketing for Japan.
This is Leong's first PR job however he has over 10 years experience within branding and digital agencies. In his new role at H+K, he will be responsible for working across the full business portfolio to develop innovative strategies for consumer brand clients such as Nikon and Expedia.
Lewis
Communications agency Lewis has restructured its agency management team with ex-Red Bull brand chief, Eric Thain, joining to lead its Shanghai office.
Furthermore Hong Kong managing director, Emma Jenkins, takes on the vice president role, also based in Singapore.
They will both report to APAC region senior vice president Scott Pettet.
Y&R
Oliver Kittipong Veerataecha has been named president of Y&R Thailand.
Having previously held the role of chief strategy and innovation officer, Veerataecha will lead the agency with vision and strategy, however will continue to focus on strategic planning on both existing and new clients.
Bradley and Montgomery
Bradley and Montgomery has announced that Jules Boasberg has joined as chief marketing officer to lead the growth of the creative agency across North America.
With over two decades of experience, Boasberg joins from his most recent position as senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Consumer Orbit.
GMR Marketing
Ryan Ritter has joined GMR Marketing as vice president, business development.
While based in the Charlotte office, Ritter will drive new business growth with the acquisition of new clients.
AKQA
Kristin Goto has been promoted to director of client services at AKQA after joining the agency in 2011 as client partner for accounts including Target, Verizon and Activision.
Goto has over 15 years experience in integrated marketing and prior to joining AKQA six years ago, she worked at BBH, Publicis and Wunderman.
Media Storm
Julie Berger has been appointed as the first executive director of audience networks for Media Storm.
In the role, Berger will oversee the management of the agency’s digital ecosystem across the US.
Tool
Tool has added Kevin Cornish to its roster as director.
Having founded Image Theory in 2014, which has worked with the likes of Apple and Taylor Swift, and Moth + Flame in 2015, which has worked with the likes of Google, MTV and AT&T, Cornish has become somewhat of a leading figure in the virtual reality industry.
