Every week The Drum takes a few minutes to ask a 10 questions with a different individual working within the global media and marketing sector. This week it's the turn of Tim Hipperson, who has held executive and advisory roles at Weve, the Facebook UK Advisory Committee, the WPP Digital Council and the IPA Futures Group while also acting as chairman to a number of businesses including Booxscale and Fearlessly Frank.

Tim Hipperson answers 10 questions

What was your first ever job?

Data strategy consultant at The Database Group (part of Olivetti computing)

Why did you get into marketing/media?

I went to present a neural networking solution to Tequila (now TBWA) and was approached post meeting to join the agency as director of data Planning, which I subsequently did.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?

Can I have three? Founding and building the most successful start up in 100 years of history at McCann Ericsson with MRM. Winning Microsoft’s first ever Cyber Lion for One Note. And then completing the deal to sell Weve to O2.

Which industry event do you look forward to each year and why?

Mobile World Congress, SXSW and Cannes. I love the big events

What current innovation excites you?

As well as Booxscale I am also involved launching a healthy beer brand. Really!

If you could ban one buzzword or piece of jargon what would it be?

Programmatic. I just hate that word

Which one account do you follow on social media that you think others should too?

@pitchatpalace. It's an amazing initiative founded by The Duke Of York supporting innovative startup businesses.

If you could take one person in the world for a drink to talk about their thoughts and their career who would you choose and why?

The most charming, interesting and engaging individual and the person with the most humility I have ever met is the former England rugby player Jonny Wilkinson. I would happily do that again.

Android or iOS?

iOS every time. It just works.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

You have two ears and one mouth. Use them in that order!
