Tottenham Hotspur confirm kit deal with Nike

Tottenham Hotspurs deal with Nike will commence at the start if the season

Tottenham Hotspur have today (30 June) confirmed the long-rumoured news that Nike will be the club’s new kit sponsor.

The Premier League club’s new multi-year deal with Nike will commence ahead of the 2017/18 season after their current deal with Under Armour expired earlier this summer.

The partnership is unlikely to come as a surprise to many given the images of the new kits on sale in the US that emerged last week.

Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, said: “Nike is committed to partnering with us both at home, at a time when our new stadium scheme is the catalyst for the regeneration of Tottenham, and globally, with our growing fan base mirrored by Nike's worldwide reach.”

Nike President Trevor Edwards added: “We are excited to partner Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, a club with a proud heritage, strong identity and exciting future.

“The partnership allows Nike Football to accelerate our focus on London, connect deeply with an incredibly passionate global fan base, and drive ongoing growth across the world.”

Spurs’ new lucrative shirt agreement with the US brand comes ahead of the move into their new North London stadium next year which will further raise the profile of the club globally through its partnership with the NFL.

In addition to taking over Spurs’ kit agreement from its US rival in Under Armour, Nike is also commencing a new partnership with Chelsea, who ended their deal with Adidas early.
