A Welsh building firm has found itself in hot water after advertising its plumbing services with the assistance of a naked woman enjoying one of its newly installed showers.

Potential customers got more than they bargained for by way of a 360-degree virtual tour published on its website which, as well as exposing one of the firm’s latest bathroom creations, also depicted a woman bathing – pixelated for modesty.

The promotion was panned by the Advertising Standards Authority who declared the piece to be ‘offensive and unsuitable’ for an ‘untargeted medium’ – despite protestations that people ‘do not shower wearing clothing’.

Writing in its adjudication the ASA observed: “The woman was fully nude, shown full length side on, with her bottom sticking out, her back arched and with some of her breast visible under her folded arms.

“In light of the nudity, we considered the pose was provocative and could be seen to be sexually suggestive with the tone further enhanced in the virtual tour because it was possible to freeze the image, zoom in and out and change the angle.”

As such it was judged that the work could be regarded as ‘sexist’ and likely to ‘demean women’ and as such has been banned from re-use.

The ASA have been kept busy in recent days, banning a Ryan Reynolds commercial for exaggerating BT's wi-fi strength.
