For years, some members of the populace have yearned for the day fast food outlet McDonald’s chose to deliver its reliable menu items to people in their homes, this day has come as a result of a partnership with Uber’s side venture UberEats.

McDonald's now deliver from 22 London locations

The push into delivery seemed like a moot option for McDonald’s which maintains such a saturation of outlets across the UK (around 1,249) that it is unlikely that you’re particularly far from one at any one time.

Nonetheless, not to stare a gift horse in the mouth, McDonald’s is working with UberEats, Uber's food delivery offshoot which is currently engaged in an aggressive UK push into up to 40 cities by the end of the year. Limited to 22 of locations across London, Nottingham and Leeds, the roll out of the McDelivery service lags behind tests in other markets including the US and China.

Deliveries will be made to people within 1.5 miles of a McDonald’s (arguably within walking distance). The Telegraph quotes Claude Abi-Gerges, the owner of five London McDonald’s franchises, each of which are running the trial, he said: “Delivery is something that my customers often ask about so it’s exciting that we’re now up and running with McDelivery in a selection of my London restaurants.”

“We’re thrilled that we’ve been chosen as one of the first groups of restaurants in the country to offer the service and look forward to hearing our customers feedback.”
