Google stands firm as Australia’s most influential brand
Google has once again topped a league table of the 10 most influential brands in Australia after seeing off fellow tech challengers Facebook and Microsoft with ease.
Google stands firm as Australia’s most influential brand
The list stands out as much for an absence of Australian brands as it does for Google’s dominance however with just three homegrown names rising to the top in a field otherwise dominated by US tech heavyweights; supermarket chain Coles at 5, telecoms giant Telstra at 9 and DIY brand Bunnings scraping in at number 10.
Ipsos’ Most Influential Brands in Australia was generated via a poll of 2,000 Australians alongside five yardsticks of influence; namely leading edge, engagement, trustworthiness, citizenship and presence – from which a numerical ranking was generated for 100 brands.
Gillian O’Sullivan, managing director of Ipsos Marketing, said: “Although the top 10 have remained relatively stable over the years, technology focused companies are rising further and further up the rankings, with 8 out of the top 10 brands in Australia being technology focused companies.”
