Edmonds has reworked the current Lloyds commercial which 'celebrates the resilience of the British people' to hammer his point home, subverting the bank’s logo with a pooping black horse mascot and a large ‘honesty countdown’ to complete the compensation process by the end of this month.

A voiceover overlaid on the official soundtrack for the advert states: “Britain has seen great change over the past 250 years, but we haven’t changed a bit. We gambled our customers money and were bailed out by taxpayers, we’ve been linked to the global arms industry, tax evasion and money laundering.

“The 2012 Lloyds scandal cost UK taxpayers £3.2bn and our PPI bill is £14bn. We’ve been fined £28m for mistreating our own staff and $370m for fixing global interest rates. This year we promise to fairly compensate all victims of our past criminal activities – but we haven’t.”

The video can be viewed on a website set up by Edmonds as part of his campaign against the bank.

Lloyds insists it will honour compensation payments by the end of June, having set aside a £100m compensation pot for this purpose.
