Fast food chain Sonic Drive-In has been using improv comedians TJ Jagodowski and Peter Grosz in their commercials for well over a decade to much success. In their latest ad, the two are joined by rapper/actor Ice-T in a humorous cameo.

In honor of National Iced Tea Month, Sonic is promoting an “iced tea that’s better than iced tea” because it has frozen sweet tea mixed with lemonade. As Jagodowski and Grosz sing the praises of the drink and repeat the phrase “way better than iced tea” at the drive in, we see Ice-T come into focus and repeat it as well. He then goes straight-faced as he states: “No.”

To highlight this cameo, Sonic is hosting a Facebook Live event on Tuesday, June 13, at 10am PST, offering fans the chance to claim a limited-edition, cold-activated Ice-T t-shirt that changes color when frozen. The event will feature a life-sized ice sculpture of Ice-T holding an actual microphone and wearing a cold-activated Ice-T shirt. The ice sculpture will slowly melt and once the microphone drops, the first 100 fans to comment on the Facebook live event will receive a limited-edition cold-activated Ice-T t-shirt.

This is the first time that Sonic has offered a frozen tea, so the brand wanted to make noise with an iconic musician and an irreverent event on social media.

Ice-T has used his name in jest before, in a memorable ad for Geico where he served lemonade, not iced tea.
