This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Volkswagen

Volkswagen has hired Geraldine Ingham as head of marketing as the brand continues efforts to rebuild its reputation after the damage caused by 2015’s ‘dieselgate’ emissions scandal.

She joins from Nissan France, where she marketing director and handled the roll out of a car sharing scheme.

Three

Former O2 marketer Shadi Halliwell is to join Three UK as chief marketing officer, with the remit of establishing the telecoms network as one of "Britain's best loved brands".

She will replace Tom Malleschitz, who was promoted to chief digital officer for the wider Hutchison Whampoa group.

Channel 4

Channel 4 has appointed Alex Mahon as its chief executive - marking the first time a woman will run a top UK broadcaster.

Mahon joins Channel 4 as its first female chief from Foundry, a global technology business delivering visual effects and virtual reality for the entertainment industry, which she has run as chief executive since 2015.

Publicis Communications

Publicis Communications has named Lizzie Dewhurst as global PR and communications director.

In the new role Dewhurst will be responsible for the messaging around the group’s creative agencies including Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis Worldwide and Marcel, alongside several others.

Independent

Samir Mallal has joined Independent Films as its director roster.

Having previously won a Gold Lion at Cannes Lions in 2010 for being the Best Young Director, Mallal is now testing out VR film which he hopes to use in his new role.

Time Inc UK

Jon Restall has been promoted to head of angecy partnerships at Time Inc UK.

Having started his career at Time Inc UK over 20 years ago, Restall most recently held the position of senior head of agency investment.

Evening Standard

Evening Standard editor George Osborne has announced a host of appointments, promoting Charlotte Ross as deputy editor, Jack Lefley to associate editor and appointing Richard Oliver as associate editor (production).

Farfetch

Luxury fashion retailer Farfetch has appointed John Veichmanis to the role of chief marketing officer, replacing Stephanie Horton who has departed from the online marketplace after three years.

Veichmanis will be responsible for developing the brand and generating consumer demand for its boutique and brand partners.

UKFast

UKFast has appointed Kristina McGurik as marketing director.

McGurik has made the switch from agency to in-house for her new role in a bid to double the brands marketing team.

APAC people on the move

R/GA

R/GA has appointed Bob Mackintosh as VP executive creative director for APAC as it pushes a connected creative approach for the region.

The newly created regional role will see Mackintosh responsible for the creative output of R/GA’s Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo offices, based out of Australia.

Google

Google has appointed Stephanie Davis as the new Singapore country director, who will take over from Joanna Flint.

Flint was the previous Singapore country director for Google before she was promoted to oversee creative and media partnerships in Asia Pacific.

Airbnb

Airbnb has appointed Hong Ge as vice president of its China operations as it looks to accelerate growth in the market.

Hong, who previously headed up engineering for Airbnb China and held engineering roles at Facebook and Google, will be responsible for all China initiatives and will report to chief executive Brian Chesky.

Hill+Knowlton Strategies

Thomas Gosh has joined Hill+Knowlton as creative content and digital innovation director.

Having worked with the agency for almost 20 years, Gosh expressed his excitement in the hope he will be able to "create compelling content".

AdAsia Holdings

Vivek Misra has joined AdAsia Holdings as vice president, corporate strategy.

Leading the brands corporate strategy arm, Misra had joined from Accenture's Analytics and Digital group as a value architect.

USA People on the move

Uber

Apple’s head of global consumer marketing, Bozoma Saint John, has been poached by Uber as chief brand officer.

Her appointment comes as Uber struggles to salvage its public image, which has been tainted in recent months due to accusations of internal sexism and sexual harassment.

The ride-hailing app recently fired 20 employees following an investigation into sexual harassment and other claims at the company.

360i

360i has hired Menno Kluin to serve as chief creative officer.

Kluin previously served as executive creative director at Deutsch, where he led creative for brands including Sherwin Williams, Green Giant and Shock Top.

He replaces Pierre Lipton, who is leaving 360i after spending nearly three years as the agency’s top creative.

Publicis Conseil

Publicis Conseil, which belongs to the Publicis Worldwide network, has appointed Luc Wise as chief transformation and strategy officer (CTSO).

Wise will be tasked with accelerating the business transformation for Publicis’s clients, both locally and globally, and is part of an new strategy within the Publicis Group.

FCB Toronto

FCB Toronto has hired two new managing directors to lead its account team. Tracy Little and Chris Perron will both take on vice president, managing director roles at the agency.

Little was previously vice president, group account director at FCB Toronto. She joined FCB in September 2015, after more than six years at BBDO Toronto, where she was a VP, group account director.
