International Cricket Council partner with Marvel and DC artist to create comic inspired campaign for ICC Champions Trophy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has partnered with Marvel and DC artist, John McCrea, for a new campaign promoting the ICC Champions Trophy.

The posters will appear in cities across the UK ahead in the build up to the CT17 Final

The campaign saw McCrea work with comic strip writer, Ferg Handley to create a graphic novel styled series of cricket themed murals for the launch of the 50-over international tournament.

The OOH posters will appear Birmingham, Cardiff and London, with each piece of artwork telling a story. The campaign will conclude on 17 June, the eve of the CT17 Final, when the murals will be brought together in one place for the first time at London's Kia Oval.

Having work with both Marvel and DC, Belfast-born McCrea has illustrated the likes of Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Star Wars, the Simpsons and more.

Handley has 20 years’ experience in the comic book industry and has written over 300 scripts for DC Thomson’s Commando book line. In recent years, he has scripted comic-style animations for the BBC and Imperial War Museum, and in 2017 he wrote a series of strips for the Premier League’s Kicks initiative.
