Apple marketing exec poised to depart.

Bozoma Saint John is one of Apple's most high profile executives. She joined Beats Music from Pepsico – where she was head of music and entertainment marketing – just months before it was acquired by Apple in 2014 and rose to oversee marketing for Music and iTunes.

She was named as one of Fortune’s 40 Under 40 last year following her stand-out presentation on Apple Music at the brand’s World Wide Developers Conference.

However, according to a report from Axios, Saint John will depart Apple imminently. Apple has not commented.

Her departure would be a blow to Apple, particularly for its Music division which saw some success in its attempt to take on Spotify and Pandora under her stewardship. In December 2016, it claimed to have 20 million paying subscribers, up from 9 million it started the year with, thanks to a number of celebrity-partnerships and a free-trial initiative.
