Scottish lager brand Tennent’s has snapped up a Barack Obama impersonator (Barack No Bama) for a bizarre party welcoming the former president to Edinburgh.

The company has released the Yes T Can, a play on Obama’s 2008 motto, ‘Yes We Can’, and will run sampling of the lager in the capital as people gather to get a glimpse of ‘the big man’.

The guerilla marketing campaign touched down while Obama’s visit took him to the Edinburgh International Conference, and out onto the golf course.

Alan McGarrie, head of UK brand marketing at Tennent’s said: “When we heard Barack Obama was coming to town, we wanted to pull out all the stops and welcome him to Scotland. Obama is famous for his ‘Yes We Can’ campaign line, and ‘Yes T Can’ is a celebration of that.”

While Obama’s living the high life, The Drum’s Cameron Clarke last month spoke to Eric Schultz, former advisor to the president, about the difficulties of running the world’s most watched press room.
