Actor and director Ben Stiller has brought his dry sense of humor to Red Nose Day as anchor of the ‘Red Nose News National News Network’ in an effort to raise awareness on how to raise funds for Red Nose Day on May 25.

In the video, created by Mekanism, which aired first on Red Nose Day’s Facebook page and can still be viewed there, Stiller sits on a news set and comically tells people about what they can do to raise funds, “helping kids, one nose at a time”. For kids, a fashion show, school concert, or a “ballet thing and have parents and friends donate to watch”. Other kid options include getting sponsored to dye your hair red, wear red clothes to work, sponsor a bake sale with items at “slightly inflated prices”.

For an “adult-type person” Stiller recommends “work-type things” like “dressing up weird for a day”, take a pie to the face, put out a swear jar and “give all the f%#ing money to Red Nose Day”. Other possibilities include taking a red nose super selfie with co-workers and get your boss to match $1 per nose.

For adults not at work, Stiller suggests a sponsored bike ride, a special “pose with the nose” yoga class, a car wash, paint your house red, wear nothing but a red nose, sell off everything you own for charity, or “get sponsored for watching a really bad movie” (as Zoolander 2 appears on screen).

Stiller notes that “every penny you raise saves and changes wonderful lives”.

Red Nose Day has raised over $1 billion globally since its launch, thanks in part to the participation of people across the country getting involved in new, fun ways every year to end child poverty. Every dollar that is raised on Facebook for #RedNoseDay through June 15 will be matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation up to $1m.

“The Red Nose Day Special,” airing Thursday, May 25 at 10pm ET on NBC, hosted by Chris Hardwick, will feature stars like Ben Affleck, Paul Rudd and Jack Black to the cast of “This is Us” and will include the much-anticipated short film sequel of “Love Actually”.
