Two decades on from the first ever Scottish Design Awards it's time to reveal the nominees for the 2017 event.

The scheme, which rewards top design agencies and architecture firms for their contribution to the country's design culture, is now in its 20th year and our esteemed judging panel has whittled down the entries to a final shortlist.
When it comes to the design nominations there are several agencies up for gongs across various categories including Best Use of Craft and Best App Design.
In the Corporate Identity category Edinburgh-based agency Leith is up against RRDCreative, Brand Oath, Freytag Anderson, Front Page and STV Creative.
Meanwhile, in the architecture stakes, finalists include the likes of Collective Architecture, Fourtwentyseven Design and Page & Park.

The mixed judging board included contributions from Rob Wade, group creative director at Smith & Milton; Eric Parry founder of Eric Parry Architects who was chairman for the architecture panel; Franki Goodwin, creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi and more. For design entrants, the panel was chaired by TBWA's head of design Danny Bickerton.
"There was a really good mix of work to get through, and some heavily-loaded categories," he said of the judging process. "Overall as a team of judges we were quite aligned in what we were looking for, judging work not only on its design credibility but for its story telling and sense of purpose."
He continued: "There were a few heated debates throughout the day, but that's to be expected when you get a team of creatives in a warm conference suite. There's definitely going to be some surprises on the night."
The winners will be named at a black-tie event which will take place at the Grand Central hotel in Glasgow on Thursday 25 May.
The Drum Scottish Design Awards are run in partnership with Urban Realm – a leading body of architecture press – and E-Architect.
