Spotify is riding on the coat-tails of comedian James Corden’s runaway Carpool Karaoke hit by staging its own celebrity vehicular spectacular, albeit without the singing.

Traffic Jams adopts its own unique take on proceedings by inviting a rapper and a producer to share a ride in an SUV as they navigate snarled LA roads while attempting to pull together a new song before arriving at their destination.

Each Spotify episode will conclude with a live performance of the melody in front of an audience of hundreds – with the track naturally being made available on Spotify for repeat listening.

Eight episodes have been commissioned, each of which will sport a different rapper and producer who will be chaperoned by comedian DoBoy, who doubles as chauffeur and host.

Produced by All Def Digital, Traffic Jams will take to the streets of LA from 4 April with rapper T-Pain warming the passenger seat alongside producer Southside for the inaugural road trip.

John Cena, Will Smith and Ariana Grande have been amongst the stars to go for a ride with James Corden.
