David Blair, regional chief executive of EMEIA at Fitch, is to be promoted to global chief executive with effect from 3 April the retail and brand consultancy has announced.

Blair will fill the shoes of Simon Bolton, chief executive of brand experience collective Group XP, cementing a steady rise through the ranks since first joining Fitch back in 2005.

Simon Bolton, chief executive of Group XP commented: "Having spent almost 12 years at Fitch, originally working for our founder, Rodney Fitch, and building strong operations in India and London, David is uniquely qualified to lead our network. I know he will do this with distinction and passion."

David Blair, incoming global chief executive of Fitch added: “It is a huge honour to be taking on this role at FITCH, a company I’ve already had so many memorable experiences with. FITCH has always been fantastic at evolving to meet the needs of the times and now is no exception. So I am extremely excited about the future and what we will achieve as a business together.”

Blair began his career at Fitch as a global development director in London before transferring to India for five years in 2007 to establish a south east Asia operation.

Fitch recently recruited Simon Stacey as executive creative director in Asia.
