Google is seeking a head of Republican political advertising to oversee its sales team managing accounts for election campaigns, according to a new job listing.

It is thought to be the second role pertaining to the Republican party directly which Google has advertised publicly following its appointment last year of a ‘conservative outreach’ manager, highlighting the search giant’s desire develop relationships with the present US administration.

That position was filled by Max Pappas, a former aide to senator Ted Cruz, who helped to smooth Google’s relationship with Trump’s team despite open opposition to some of their policies.

Alphabet chairman Eric Schmidt is reported to have met White House advisor and president Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner during a private visit to Trump Tower on the eve of Trump’s inauguration.
