After over 100 days of running a pop-up 'Snapbot' campaign, Snap Inc is finally letting customers in the US purchase its Spectacles online.

Anyone in the country can now order, and virtually try on, a pair of the $130 specs via Snap's website.

Up until now tech lovers have only been able to get their hands on a pair of the company's camera-equipped glasses via yellow vending machines, AKA bots, which have been temporarily situated in cities across the country.

In the US at least, the unique distribution strategy is cooling off after having toured everywhere from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, but Snapchat's parent company has promised the cute machines will return throughout the US following a "brief" break.

Each household is limited to purchasing six pairs of Spectacles online, and the move may give Snap's revenue a slight boost as it gears up for one of the largest tech IPOs in American history.

Having just been launched in September last year, Spectacles are unlikely to have generated a significant chunk of income for Snap, however the launch has been reflective of the company's wider ambition to be viewed as a camera company.

Snap has remained tight-lipped about its distribution strategy for the UK and APAC markets and beyond, so users looking to see the world through Spectacles will have to wait a little longer, or go through US channels to purchase them.
