Mark Zuckerberg gets his hands on latest Oculus VR accessory – gloves
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has proven he is as hands on as ever for his pet project, VR, after donning a pair of haptic gloves enabling him to interact with virtual worlds in a more natural manner.
The white wearables are the latest innovation to emanate from Facebook-owned Oculus’ research lab although it’s unclear whether they will ever make the leap from lab to consumer.
Commenting on his experience Zuckerberg said: “We're working on new ways to bring your hands in virtual and augmented reality. Wearing these gloves, you can draw, type on a virtual keyboard, and even shoot webs like Spider Man. That's what I'm doing here.”
VR gloves have been a dream for decades but have tended to flounder owing to the complexities of engineering a custom fit while housing all the required electronics in a comfortable garment. Not to mention the ick-factor from oil and sweat from dirty hands.
