Social Chain chief executive Steve Bartlett has teamed up with The Drum to give his hot take on breaking social media news in our new #BreakingSocial series.

From Snapchat's IPO to Facebook's fake news furore it can be hard to keep up with the fast-paced world of social, but don't worry we've got you covered as and when it happens.

The first video looks at why Facebook is stepping on Snapchat's toes and testing its own version of Stories above the news feed. Described by The Drum's video team as "an ancient greek epic but with more emojis," the first installment is available to watch in full above.

"Social media moves at an alarmingly quick pace, every time we wake up something has changed and so it becomes so incredibly easy to miss crucial, decision-shaping changes and the opportunities they create," said Bartlett. "This series exists to keep you in-sync with this ever changing landscape, and to provide you with the information in the most concise and comprehensible way possible."

24-year-old Bartlett launched Social Chain in 2014 alongside co-founder Dom McGregor. The Manchester-based agency now works with brands like Puma, MyProtein and Huawei.
