Beyonce's release of Lemonade saw a surge in Tidal users in 2016

The telecommunications company has hopes to provide it’s retail customers with exclusive content that isn’t available to other Tidal subscribers.

The music streaming service, co-owned by Jay-Z, Beyonce and a host of other A-list artists, will see Sprint’s chief executive, Marcelo Claure, join the board of directors. However Jay-Z has assured in a statement that himself and the other artist-owners will continue to run the artist-centric service in the hope to build the relationship between themselves and fans.

Jay-Z said: “Marcelo understood our goal and together we are excited to bring Sprint’s 45 million customers an unmatched entertainment experience.”

Meanwhile, Claure praised The Blueprint rapper for his commitment to the music industry and explained his excitement to offer exclusives to fans on the network as well as Tidal.

This is not the first time Sprint and Tidal have come together, in 2015 the two company’s worked closely during Tidal’s launch as a competitor to other services including Spotify and Apple Music.

Last year, Tidal saw an increase in users after Beyonce released her Lemonade album, though it was accused of inflating those user numbers.
