Leading South West digital marketing agency, AB, has formed a new partnership with Exeter University, which will see the agency help to deliver two digital marketing courses to the next generation of marketers.

A total of 130 undergraduate and 50 masters students will study on the two courses, which will see AB delivering four weeks of modules for both courses, with their lectures designed to give students a realistic experience of working in the industry and the practical skills used every day by digital marketers.

Course leader, Dr Aliette Lambert reached out to AB to help deliver practical elements of the course because of the agency’s large portfolio of clients, digital marketing expertise and their commitment to providing a creative learning culture for their employees. Both the University and AB believe that it’s important to expose the students to individuals who are passionate about marketing and advertising, but more importantly who work within the industry so that they can provide real case studies and career advice to students.

Chris Shadrick, head of digital strategy at AB, said: “We’re super excited about strengthening our relationship with the University of Exeter and developing the next generation of Digital Marketers, for ourselves and for other businesses. The marketing landscape is incredibly fast paced and is always evolving, so Digital Marketing is not something you can learn from a text book. Our experience as a full service agency will mean students can be exposed to all forms of marketing across digital, social media, content, SEO and analytics. We’re pretty chuffed to have been asked and consider it an honour. We’ll do our best to deliver!”

The course, written by Dr Aliette Lambert in collaboration with AB, will conclude with a Dragon’s Den style pitch where students will have the opportunity to develop their own startup idea with an emphasis on how to launch and market the business. Students will be able to pitch their ideas to the Directors of AB and receive feedback on their presentation skills and ability to come up with ideas.

Dr Lambert said: “We are very excited that AB is supporting us to deliver the course. They have a wealth of experience to share with our students. With an ever increasing emphasis on social interaction and more businesses focusing on online marketing strategy, we felt that partnering with an agency like AB would provide our students with industry exposure and real life experience, which will support their career development and provide opportunities to work with businesses and advertising agencies like AB.”

AB is a full service creative agency with offices in Exeter and London. Established in 1983 the agency works with clients across the UK and internationally, from Flybe and Paignton Zoo to Heineken and Tesco.
