Amazon hunts marketer to head up Games division's European expansion

Amazon is on the hunt for a marketer to head up Games Studio, its gaming development arm, as it plots an expansion into Europe.

The 'Head of Marketing, Esports, Research and Community (MERC)' role will see the successful candidate become part of the ‘core leadership team’ and will also help found the a new European office for the division.

The Drum approached Amazon for comment on the role and expansion plans but a spokesperson declined.

A job description for the role, which recently appeared on the brand's website, reads: “We believe the evolution that began with arcade communities, growing to the live streams and esports of today, will continue to a future where games are a global cultural touchstone that cuts across age, gender and nationality. We are seeking the industry’s best to help us create, publish and support our ambitious PC games."

Amazon added that it’s looking for an “industry veteran” to take on the role as it looks to “build a team from the ground-up”.
