Full-service marketing communications agency the HPS Group has completed the acquisition of Covent Garden-based research specialist MM-Eye.

The addition of MM-Eye’s 18 staff brings the group’s headcount to 242 and raises the company’s turnover to £27m as the company celebrates its 40th anniversary.

HPS Group marketing communications remains at the core of the business, while the renamed HPS MM-Eye becomes the group’s fifth specialist, wholly-owned subsidiary. HPS MM-Eye joins video content and motion graphics producers Breakfast of Champions; PR, sponsorship and events agency HPS jardine; field marketing and retail promotions specialist, HPS retail7; and digital development business HPS india in the HPS group stable.

The addition of HPS MM-Eye brings quantitative and qualitative market research, marketing communications effectiveness and brand health-tracking in-house, as well as adding a client list of global brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Maersk Line, Ford, Toyota and Nissan.

The new offering will allow hps to deliver deeper and richer insights into customer behaviour to its own existing portfolio of clients that includes BMW Group, Mazda, PlayStation, 3M, BMI Healthcare, Zoetis and Stabilo.

Commenting on the acquisition, group chief executive Mark Cornwell said: “This is a transformative acquisition that bolsters our strategic capabilities and will enable HPS to deliver truly insightful, evidence-led campaign planning and innovative creative solutions for clients. It comes at an exciting time for the group. We are celebrating our 40th anniversary and have more than doubled the size of the business in the past four years, having grown turnover from £12.5m in 2012 to an expected £27m this year. We’ll continue to strengthen our offering to our clients through a mixture of organic growth and acquisition.”

Damien Field, managing director of HPS MM-Eye, added: “We’re very excited about this new chapter for MM-Eye. We’ll continue to deliver robust and innovative research solutions for our existing clients. Most excitingly, being part of a leading marketing services group will open up new opportunities for us, both in terms of what we offer to our clients but also in terms of what we can contribute to the HPS group.”
