Ad of the Day: Aer Lingus reunites three Irish families with their loved ones for Christmas
John Lewis may have ditched the sentimental Christmas campaign for 2016, but Aer Lingus has certainly stepped up to the plate to make sure viewers still get their fill of warm and fuzzy feelings this year.

The Irish airline has unveiled a sentimental spot which captures the moment Irish families are reunited with their loved ones for the holiday season after spending many a special occasion apart.
Based on the insight that almost half of Irish people living abroad won't make it home for Christmas this year, the ad plays out of the course of three minutes and tells the story of three people who were handpicked by the travel firm for “the greatest gift of all”.
First up is Glasnevin born Tracey Donegan, who is shown arriving at her parents’ house with her husband and two sons from San Francisco. The airline also flew home two Irish men who are now living in New York; James Lambert who was brought back to Dundalk and Brendan Donohoe who flew in to Dublin to surprise his family.
The emotive video captures the exact moment each expat arrives home, with the airline promising that none of the families’ involved had been aware of the surprise in the lead up to filming.
