Instagram appears to be morphing into a variation of the Snap Inc. format as the company introduced today a new "set of tools to help add context and creativity to ones story using stickers, holiday fun and more."

The "face" or sticker looks like a lot like a Snap Inc. smiley face yet the Instagram post encourages users to "add context to a story with stickers after taking a photo or video."

The app provides drawing tools to customize the smiley face for weather, time or location. It’s easy to make stickers ones own: move them around, make them bigger or smaller and choose from different styles to match ones mood.

Earlier this year, Instagram added a feature that also resembled one of Snap Inc.'s most popular features when it unveiled its very own ephemeral content service dubbed 'Instagram Stories'.

Instagram and Snapchat are very much reaching equal footing with Snapchat appealing to millennials buying into the instantaneous 'no frills' aspect it offers compared to well-manicured rivals like Instagram. In adding the drawing tools and smiley face, it looks like Instagram is reaching out to the younger users - and Snapchat lovers.
