Foodpanda hires new Singapore managing director and marketing director following Delivery Hero acquisition
Foodpanda in Singapore has expanded its management team, hiring a new managing director and marketing director, not long after it was announced that it was being acquired by rival takeaway service Delivery Hero.
Laura Kantor has joined Foodpanda as head of marketing
Aspa Lekka, managing director, Foodpanda Singapore, said: “I am very excited to join the team in Singapore and be part of one of our fastest growing and most successful companies globally. I am looking forward to see Foodpanda offering our customers the very best delivery experience from top restaurants as well as being a great place for our employees to work and develop their skills”.
Foodpanda has hired a new managing director, Aspa Lekka, who joins with effect from December. Prior to Singapore, she held the same role at Foodpanda in Malaysia. She replaces former managing director Emma Heap, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities in South Africa. Heap spoke to The Drum earlier this year about how the business planned to put customer experience at the heart of its business in order to drive off increasing competition from the likes of Deliveroo and Uber Eats, both of which are pushing hard into Singapore and Southeast Asia.
The company has also hired a new head of marketing, Laura Kantor, who has previously worked on brands in APAC and Europe, including Bupa, IBM and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, via roles at agencies. According to Foodpanda, she will work with the team to develop data-driven and integrated customer-centric marketing, in line with the company plan to expand Foodpanda's presence in Singapore and fight-off increased competition.
