Mercedes places job ad in Autosport magazine for new F1 race driver with benefits including company car
The Mercedes Formula 1 team has turned to print advertising to find a replacement race driver following world champion Nico Rosberg’s shock departure.
Nico Rosberg's retirement has left a vacant seat in the team
The treble winning constructers champions posted a tongue in cheek job vacancy in the pages of the UK Autosport magazine advertising the available position for the second race seat left by German driver Nico Rosberg who announced his retirement last month after clinching his first driver’s world championship.
The ad reads: “A vacancy has arisen for the position of race driver with the team."
It goes on: “Ideally, you will have a proven track record in skills including steering, braking and, in particular, accelerating. Possession of an FIA Super Licence will be an advantage.”
The Race Driver ad as it appears in Autosport Magazine
It’s not the first time that Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 has purchase print ad space in Autosport’s magazine for vacant positions within its team. The team has previously advertised for vacancies including aerodynamics machinist, service desk analyst and infrastructure team leader, however the new ad marks the first time it has published anything about a race river.
Benefits for the successful applicant include life assurance, Mercedes company car lease scheme, on-site gym and subsidised restaurant facilities.
