BBC Worldwide to show 'giant' 3D films in Chinese museums

The four 40 minute-long BBC Earth films - Tiny Giants, Wild Africa, Earthflight and Incredible Predators - will be shown in giant 2D Dome and 3D formats, creating an immersive experience for museum visitors.

“BBC Earth exists to inspire people with the natural world; we constantly push boundaries to excite our audiences with amazing stories, characters and discoveries that we go to the ends of the earth to find,” said Kelvin Yau, general manager of BBC Worldwide in Greater China.

“We are very pleased that visitors to science and technology museums all over China will have access to the four BBC Earth films that will allow viewers to envelope themselves in the larger than life, immersive experience of the 2D Dome and 3D giant screen formats,” he added.

The deals, made through clients such as Orient International Holding Shanghai Foreign Trade Co. Ltd, and Wuhan DDMC Culture Co Ltd, will start in January and last for around six months.

Cities to exhibit the films will include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenyang and Hefei, as well as Hong Kong.

BBC Worldwide is ramping up activity in Asia, after launching a version of its BBC Player in Singapore last month alongside its local partner StarHub.
