Trump Tower momentarily becomes Dump Tower on Google maps
For a few hours, Trump Tower in New York City found itself renamed as 'Dump Tower' on Google Maps.
By early Sunday morning, it appeared that 'Dump Tower' was indeed restored to its proper name on the online mapping service, according to a CNN story today.
Trump Tower serves as the President-elect's home in Manhattan. Its central location on Fifth Avenue has posed security challenges for the secret service and local law enforcement, the article notes.
CNN affiliate WPIX had reported that a second location, the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Columbus Circle had also been renamed Dump International Hotel and Tower earlier Saturday. By Sunday morning, that reference had also been removed.
Users of the mapping service began noticing the new name for the Fifth Avenue building and the hotel on Columbus Circle on Saturday around 2pm and some took to social media to report it.
Trump has yet to comment on the supposed vandalism of Trump Tower, which is the corporate headquarters of Trump Organization, which umbrellas his financial holdings.
A popular hashtag on Twitter during the contentious election campaign was #DumpTrump.
