Kylie Jenner, Amazon and electronics brands dominate Cyber Monday buzz

Even though Adobe reports social media buzz is down overall on Cyber Monday 2016, social media analytics firm Talkwalker says there are plenty of brands with reason to celebrate.

Per Talkwalker’s figures, there have been approximately 580,000 mentions of Cyber Monday on social networks in the last week, but that includes more than 220,000 mentions in the past 24 hours.

And, of these most recent posts, the top three are all Instagram posts from Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics brand, which have generated more than 100,000 likes each and reached nearly 10m people apiece.

Luxury online retailer LXD Boutique, also known as Loyal By Design, is also making what Talkwalker called a big move with the hashtag #loyalbydesign up by more than 1300%, while #KylieCosmetics continues to trend upward, increasing 550%.

Over the past day, the number one brand trending overall is Amazon with more than 11,500 mentions tied to Cyber Monday, which marks an increase of more than 300%, Talkwalker says.

Talkwalker analysis also reveals electronics are likely a popular gift choice again as brands trending alongside Amazon include the iPhone 7, which is up 344% over the last 24 hours, as well as Playstation, which is up 328%, and Best Buy, which is up 307%.

In addition, Talkwalker says hashtags related to Cyber Monday that are “emerging as leaders” in the past 24 hours include #shopping (up nearly 800%), #fashion (725%), #love (600%) and #sale (460%).

Talkwalker says it measures data points from more than 1500 servers processing posts from 150 million websites each day.
