This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

Emma Cookson moves to You & Mr Jones

EMEA people are on the move

Leicster City

Leicester City has appointed Jonathan Gregory as its new commercial chief.

Gregory brings with him more than 15-years’ experience across sports marketing and will work to strengthen Leicester City’s commercial standing off the back of their historic title win last season.

He joins from ATG where he served as global director of partnerships and oversaw the commercial partnerships and sponsorship programme across the company.

J. Walter Thompson

J. Walter Thompson has shaken-up its leadership team with a double promotion for London-based executive partners James Whitehead and Joe Petyan, who will now serve as London CEO and European regional director respectively.

Whitehead’s move will see him assume overall responsibility for the agency’s employees, creative output and client offering as well as integrating several newly formed divisions within JWT’s existing digital, one-to-one, experiential and above-the- line capabilities. These include digital innovation and e-commerce division Mirum; always-on content division Colloquial and shopper marketing unit Geometry@JWT.

UM London

UM London has tasked Matt Morgan with leading its digital transformation after appointing him as its new managing partner for digital.

In his new role Morgan will work to foster a culture of innovation and help develop new ways of working together under a restructured integrated planning model.

He will also be the digital focal point for UM London’s key clients, leading strategic digital projects and working alongside the planning teams to formulate strategies for clients.

Carat UK

Carat UK has appointed Alison Jones as its new chief client officer.

Jones will report to Carat’s chief executive, Rick Hirst, and will join the senior leadership team on 28 November.

Jones holds experiences as a senior marketer leading some of the biggest retail brands in the UK.

Nabs

Simon Daglish, deputy managing director of ITV’s commercial arm, has taken over from AMV BBDO chief executive Ian Pearman as the chairman of industry body Nabs.

Daglish has been a long-time supporter of Nabs as a member of its ‘Stranger Than Summer’ organising committee, a Nabs Speed Mentor and also a Nabs Trustee.

He officially takes up the role at the end of this month when he will become responsible for championing Nabs as well as helping to implement the charity’s refreshed vision and purpose of ‘Putting people first’.

Bauer Media

Bauer Media has appointed Matt Batchelor to the newly created rule as director of agency relations and trading.

In his new role, Batchelor will work to push advertising leadership while working closely with group commercial director Simon Kilby.

Content Marketing Association

The Content Marketing Association has appointed Matt Adams, chief executive of Havas Media UK and Havas Media International, as its new chairperson.

Having been a member of the managing team for more than a year, Adams brings over 15 years' experience in the industry.

Mubaloo

Mubaloo has appointed former IBM head of development, Mark Stewart, as its new chief technology officer.

In his new role, Stewart will be responsible for the technology strategy of the company while also creating and driving Mubaloo’s Innovation Lab.

Strive Insight

Strive Insight has appointed Alex Webb as client director taking the team to a total of seven people.

Having previously worked as principal at Incite for over six years, Webb has worked with brands including Skype, Barclays, Visa and American Express.

Aiwip

Aiwip has appointed former Saatchi & Saatchi creative director, Chris Arnold, as its new non-executive.

APAC people on the move

Edelman

Edelman Digital is looking to gain more expertise so that it can carry out lead agency briefs, making senior hires in its Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APACMEA) business, primarily to drive better efficiencies and integration for the business, as well as boost its paid media credentials.

The PR and communications firm has hired Martin Shaw as performance EVP, who will be charged with driving the paid media and data, analytics and reporting teams in the region for Edelman Digital from its Hong Kong office. Alongside this the company has brought in Stuart Edwards as chief operating officer for Edelman Digital in the region, with responsibility for improving integration and efficiency from its Sydney office.

Both will report to Gavin Coombes, president of Edelman Digital APACMEA, who said: “We are embarking on the adoption of a product strategy and the integration of digital and brand talent into consolidated teams and united leadership to accelerate the evolution of our business.”

North America people on the move

You & Mr Jones

Brandtech group You & Mr Jones, has announced a series of senior appointments across the business, rounding off a strong year for the company.

Former BBH New York chief executive Emma Cookson has joined the group as a partner alongside Annette Stover, who comes from marketing communications management consultant Ark Advisors.

Cookson, a branding strategy leader, has helped shape brands including Levi’s, Sony PlayStation and Google Chrome.

Jellyfish

Jellyfish has announced the appointment of Shawn Smith as the US director of social media.

In his new role, Smith will oversee the US social media team while building the agency's current campaigns for clients.
