Singapore shopping trends

A Criteo study of 500 Singaporeans found that shoppers were largely device agnostic, with desktop sitting at 52% against mobile at 48%.

More than half (54%) said that the proliferation of mobile technology has made it much easier to shop, admitting it means they spend more than ever in the shops – furthermore 4 in 5 claimed they purchase on impulse.

A total of 51% said they shop, via mobile, at work when they are bored too showing that commerce can remain strong even during the 9-5 slog.

Going into more detail, it emerged that the respondents were passionate about shopping, with it landing as the third most enjoyed pastime for them behind spending time with family, and watching TV.

Three quarters of respondents make an online purchase at least once a month, with 81% citing convenience and 58% citing price for their actions. Additionally, 66% of Singaporeans shop online because they want to avoid crowds and queues such as those displayed during the Great Singapore Sale.
