In a speech at Google’s London office on Tuesday, chief executive Sundar Pichai said the company is “committed to the UK and excited to continue our investment in our new King’s Cross campus,” according to The Guardian.

“Here in the UK, it’s clear to me that computer science has a great future with the talent, educational institutions, and passion for innovation we see all around us,” he said.

The new HQ, which will sit next to Google’s existing London base near King’s Cross, is expected to create 3,000 jobs by 2020. The building was designed by Heatherwick Studio and Bjarke Ingels Group.

Google initially made plans to build a new headquarters in London back in 2013, but plans were put on hold when the design was deemed “too boring” last year. Following Brexit, many feared that Google would no longer want to commit to the new HQ.
