Instagram hits 18m monthly users following 29% growth over the past year
Instagram’s UK community has expanded to 18m monthly users over the past year on the back of a healthy 29 per cent growth rate.
To mark crossing the 18m threshold Instagram has compiled a list of the most interesting UK-based accounts including @LewisHamilton which illustrates the glamorous lifestyle of a Formula One champ as he jets around the world and @davidbeckham sharing details of his enviable life with followers.
Brands also feature prominently on the site with some of the best known including @Burberry, @Topshop and @Harrods by furnishing followers with insights on product launches, stories and events.
The Facebook-owned image sharing site counts 500m users globally (300m of whom use the platform every day) and continues to evolve with the introduction of a new logo and features such as video and Instagram Stories whilst cracking down on anti-social behavior.
Instagram has been courting new users through introduction of features such as an explore tab for stories.
