This year Morrisons Christmas ads are highlighting the role food plays in the customs of the festive season and how it helps facilitate the special moments around Christmas.

The supermarket chain launched its first two adverts for Christmas on Facebook today (6 November) before airing them the following day on TV.

The first advert centres on a determined young boy revising for an anticipated game of Trivial Pursuit with his Grandad on Christmas Day. The 40-second ad shows Morrisons staff throughout the store helping the boy revise questions ahead of the real game.

The second ad plays on the common issue of finding room to store all the Christmas dinner food and shows a packed fridge, garden shed, dolls house and bird bath all overflowiing with food.

Andy Atkinson, Morrisons marketing director said: “Christmas is a special time of the year where families and friends gather together. Our adverts show our staff, the real heroes of our business, working hard to prepare festive food, offering great service and advice, and helping customers to create their own special moments at home with their family and loved ones.”

As well as TV, the #MorrisonsMakesIt campaign will run on national and regional radio, along with outdoor, press and digital advertising. The background music featured in the ads has been orchestrated by Will Young and is a remix of his single ‘Joy’.
